Amber Imai-Hong Receives RCUH Outstanding Employee of the Year

Former HSGC student assistant to now Hawai’i Space Flight Laboratory’s outreach and engineering specialist, Amber Imai-Hong was awarded second place in the Researcher/Project Manager Category of the Research Corporation of the University of Hawai'i 2021 Outstanding Employee of the Year Awards. Through the Artemis CubeSat Kit project and the Project POKE (Providing Opportunities for Keiki in Engineering), Amber continues her passion of educating elementary, middle, high school, and college students. Besides being a mentor and contributing to the design and development of satellites at Hawai’i Space Flight Laboratory, she introduces Hawai’i’s students to spacecraft design theory with an affordable, small satellite kit and correlating online course aiming to expand to a national online level.
