Pearl City Elementary School Becomes One of 26 New NASA Explorer Schools
Hawaii Space Grant was pleased to help honor Pearl City Elementary School today as they were officially welcomed by NASA at a school-wide assembly as one of 26 new NASA Explorer Schools. Pearl City joins 16 Explorer School teams in the western United States partnered in this program with NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. “We are ecstatic to be selected as Hawaii’s representative to NASA’s Explorer Schools program for the upcoming three school years,” said Dr. Susan Hirokane, principal at Pearl City Elementary School. “With the support of this NASA grant, together with the expertise and guidance from the NASA scientists, our students will gain knowledge and inquiry skills in science, math and geography.” Pearl City Elementary School has been an enthusiastic host of Space Grant’s Space Exploration Science FESTivals (Families Exploring Science Together) with Art and Rene Kimura of Future Flight Hawaii.
